Like most countries in the world, Namibia uses kilometers instead of miles. This week, I have traveled 16.6 kilometers or 10.12 miles. This is a slow travel week due to the holidays, and I am working from home.
Since arriving in Namibia from New Mexico in September, I have traveled about 9000 miles or 14000 kilometres!
Windhoek has a taxi service where you can order a ride from a smartphone and a driver will pick you up. The driver's phone will time the ride and when they drop you off, you pay the feed dictated by the phone. To go to downtown Windhoek it costs about $40 Namibian Dollars or $2.80 in US Dollars.
I went to the largest mall in Windhoek called Grove Mall. Malls in Namibia contain grocery stores, pharmacies, post offices and movie theatres. I go to a mall at least once a week for groceries or to meet friends at a restaurant. Can you imagine getting your groceries in a shopping mall?
