I have a husband named Gemini and a daughter named Apryl. She’s turning two in May. I grew up with my Mom in a city called Zomba where she worked as an administrator at the University of Malawi. I have one half-brother named Dennis; he’s a civil engineer for a construction company. He’s doing very well financially, I love it when he gives me money for my birthday!"
We both laugh.
"When my husband is feeling loving, he drives me to work every day, and sometimes even picks me up! If he’s not available, I either take a taxi or walk to places that are close to my house."
One thing Priscilla and I used to have in common was not having our driver’s licenses. I have since gotten mine, but the roads in Malawi are notoriously intimidating, so I asked her how her driving lessons were going.
"I'm currently taking driving lessons to get my license, and surprisingly, they're going well! Can you believe it? I never thought I could actually drive a car!"
She laughs and says, "Weather-appropriate clothing."
"Oh c'mon, Cilla give them more than that."
"Okay, kidding—it depends on where I’m going. If I’m headed to work, I dress business casual and keep it pretty simple. If I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me in jeans and a T-shirt.
