When it comes to nature, there really is no limit to what you can learn. Last weekend, I went to Nami Island where I got to escape the busy city and enjoy nature for a day. There were many new plants and familiar animals to explore, but what stood out were the metasequoia trees. These trees are also known as living fossils.
Did you know metasequoia trees can grow to at least 200 feet (60 meters)? When I saw a whole pathway of these trees, the first thing I noticed was how tall and slender they were. Their branches were very thin as well. Towards the top of the tree are very lively green leaves that create shade for the area.
I was very overwhelmed by how tall the trees were. As I tilted my head back to see them, I was in awe. The trees were so beautiful that when I saw them the first thing that I said was "Whoa!!!".
Metasequoia trees originated in China. However, once these trees were introduced to the Korean peninsula, more were planted throughout South Korea. Metasequoia trees live in many parts of the country, and many have been planted in cities such as Gimhae and Changwon.
