Interviewing an 8-Year-Old Boy

Introduction:

This week is really exciting! We're talking about the lives of kids in England. I got to meet a local 8-year-old boy in Year 4, which is the same as second grade in the United States. These are the answers he gave me to some of the questions I asked.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

"My favorite breakfast is toast with strawberry jam or toast with eggs on it."

What is your house like?:

"I have three siblings and there are four bedrooms in my house. My siblings are 14, 16 and 18. I really like being the youngest!"

What chores do you have at home?:

"I have to empty the dishwasher and take out the recycling."

When I asked him if he liked his chores, he said "Sorta."

What jobs do your parents have?:

"My mum is an occupational therapist and my dad is a video producer."

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

"It starts at quarter to nine (8:45 a.m.) and ends at quarter past 3 (3:15 p.m.)"

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

"We normally take the car. In the summer months, we sometimes cycle and walk."

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

"My school serves lunch. On Mondays, we have pizza.
