Ola exploradores! Hello explorers! My name is Kelly King and I am from Richmond, Virginia! I’m very excited for you to join me on my adventure in Mozambique. I am a photographer that specializes in conservation photography. This has allowed me to combine two of my favorite things: sharks and photography! While in Mozambique I will be working alongside marine biologists to study the biggest fish in the entire ocean...whale sharks!

I first started photographing animals back in elementary school. I would follow our dog around the house and I would take his picture pretending I was a wildlife photographer. That dream became a reality when I got my first photography job at a conservation institute in Madagascar! I accompanied biologists and researchers into the field to study plants and animals. My favorite part was that I was learning new things every single day! I also got my scuba diving certification while in Madagascar. After my first dive, I was hooked! I wanted to spend all my time in the water studying everything from coral to turtles. I got to see many endangered species while in Madagascar including my favorite animal, the whale shark.

I researched whale sharks and learned that scientists don’t know a lot about them.
