Over the past few days, I have been learning a lot about several problems in Spain that affect the youth. One main problem that exists here is the scarcity of jobs. Following graduation from university, young people are finding it difficult to find jobs, particularly full-time jobs. Here in Spain, young people often take partial or temporary contracts and most of the time these jobs do not provide enough income. This issue causes young people to live with their parents until the age of 30 or 35 because they cannot afford to live on their own, especially when housing can be very expensive. This situation causes Spaniards to increase the age that is considered "young" to 35 years. Not only that, but this issue also increases the age of maternity and pushes women to wait until they are older because they cannot afford to care for a baby without having a job. As a result of these problems, many young people are not financially independent and must rely on their parents.
In the United States, I would say that most of the time, people will assume that a person is not doing anything productive with his or her life if he or she still lives with his or her parents between the ages of 27 to 35. Personally, I do not think jobs are scarce in the U.S.
