When I first arrived in London I thought the most popular British meal was fish and chips. However, one of my professors informed me that tikka masala (a flavorful Indian dish) is actually the most popular! Now that I have spent some more time in London, this is actually not that surprising considering the variety of food options that are available here. As a metropolitan city, London gives you access to virtually any type of food! Italian, Chinese, Indian, Mexican... you name it. I must admit that I am kind of a picky eater, but since I've been here I have made an effort to try some things I wouldn't usually eat back home.
Recently I tried a full English breakfast (often referred to as a "fry-up"). This meal typically includes a fried egg, sausage, black pudding (a sausage made from oatmeal and pork blood), bacon, mushrooms, baked beans, hash browns, toast and half a tomato. It is A LOT of food.
I was a little hesitant to eat the beans and mushrooms, but everything was surprisingly pretty good. This made me think of revisiting other foods I think I don't like in the hopes of becoming more adventurous with what I eat. Even though I was a little hesitant about eating the beans, I was more anxious to see what the black pudding would taste like.
