I usually listen to the music I enjoy from the States like Olivia Rodrigo or Noah Kahan. Coldplay is a super popular band here, so I always hear their music throughout my day, and my host dad likes old rock music. However, the radios typically play traditional Peruvian music so I hear a lot of huayno (a genre of popular Andean music and dance), too!
This past week, I helped at the high school here in town to give the students their preliminary English exams, as the school year has just started. It was super fun because I got to meet all the students and help show them that they don't have to be embarrassed when trying to learn a new language.
This week, I unfortunately didn't get to read the Stephen King novel I've been working through because I was so busy. I have been writing a diagnostic report, so I will count that as my reading!
I play a lot of pretend games with my host sister, who is about to turn three. Playing with her takes a lot of my time at home ,but I enjoy it. I didn't participate, but during gym class at school the kids play soccer and volley ball. Those are the most common sports to play here.
One of the more exciting things I have done recently is started working out. I made a homemade gym with rocks and water bottles filled with sand to lift, and have been going on long walks through the chacras (fields) and stopping to meditate. It is so peaceful out in the hills.
