Thanksgiving is an American holiday, so people in France rarely celebrate the holiday unless they have friends or family from the USA. In fact, all businesses and schools are open so the Thursday of Thanksgiving and following Friday are regular work and school days for everyone.
This past weekend though, my scholarship organization put together a Thanksgiving celebration for both US and French students so that we could celebrate the holiday together. It took place in a very beautiful building with a view of the Eiffel Tower. After the dinner we went to a ceremony in Paris where lights decorating the trees on a main street were being lit to prepare for Christmas. It was a lot of fun!
