Traveling by tuktuk is a great way to make friends (with the driver) and to travel quickly without missing any of the interesting places or people that are harder to see from a car or a bus. Tuktuks have smaller engines than normal cars, so they don't go very fast. Usually you can fit 2-3 passengers on the little bench in the back. The drivers always look like they're having fun, too!
Using these vehicles makes a lot of sense in the pueblos. Tuktuks use less fuel, which is better for the environment, and they cost less for people to run them. Their small engines are not complicated, so pretty much anyone can learn to do proper maintenance to keep their tuktuk in good condition. This can save the owner a lot of money. Often, teenagers or young adults drive these tuktuks as a way to earn money and to help out their family. Tuktuks are a low cost way to start a business.
