We learned from each other as we experienced a new culture together.
My classes also helped me to recognize different perspectives. I was extremely appreciative of how open and genuine my Moroccan professors were. They always shared their thoughts and views. Often, we disagreed, and often, I had not thought about a subject in the way that they had. Through this, I was able to recognize the ways in which our perspectives differed. It also led me to start asking myself, "Why do I think I think about _____ (insert idea) in this way?".
We all have different perspectives based on the experiences we have had in our lives. My time in Morocco taught me not to focus on the differences, but to listen and open my mind as much as possible. It taught me that examining my own perspectives, and why they exist, can help me to better understand others' perspectives.
