Over the past few months, I've been fortunate to visit not one, but two Amazonian cities! First I went to Iquitos, a Peruvian city that lies just a couple of hours drive from the Amazons. A couple of months later I was crazing another Jungle trek and decided to check out Leticia, a tri-border city in the southernmost district of Colombia, known as Amazonas. In other words, Leticia boarders Peru on one side and Brazil on the other. Thankfully, I didn't do it alone: in Iquitos, I traveled with my friend Stephen, and in Leticia, I was accompanied by my friend Kim! They were both great travel buddies, and I'm glad we got to experience the breath-taking flora and fauna together. It was a bit of a hassle to get to the Amazonian jungles from Iquitos and Leticia. From Iquitos, Stephen and I had to take a cooperativo (small bus) about 20 minutes to a different van, which after three hours dropped us off at a canoe. From the canoe, we rode about two hours to our lodging in the jungle. Despite all of the traveling, the trip was well worth it! Similarly, Kim and I didn't linger in Leticia for long. Instead, we had to hop on a ferry boat for a three-hour ride through the Amazon to a small riverside community called Mocagua. In fact, it all happened so fast that we, unfortunately, missed our ferry stop! The drivers didn't announce our stop clearly, and it wasn't marked, but it was fine.
