Our News

You may remember learning about how real-life characters such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Ruby Bridges fought for justice and fairness in their communities when you read about them in second grade. The Giver is a wonderful book and the students have enjoyed reading it so far!

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I did not play any sports this week but I did learn about a traditional sport in North Macedonia called Handball. Handball is sort of like soccor, except you use your hands instead of your feet to pass the ball. To play Handball, you need two teams of seven. A player scores a point by throwing the ball into the goal of the opposing team. Players usually pass the ball by hand but they may also dribble the ball on the ground. Many of my students play Handball and some are even professional Handball players for North Macedonias national Handball team.

Other news from this week:

There was a big election this week in North Macedonia. In every town, the people of North Macedonia voted for a new mayor. A mayor is the leader of a town or city. They are responsible for making the rules and laws that the people of their city follow. Cities in the U.S. also have mayors. Now, voting has officially ended, and the new mayors of North Macedonia will begin their jobs in the next few weeks.
