Greetings! My name is Lauren Limburg and I am 22 years old. I grew up in Tampa, Florida and I have always loved playing volleyball, reading and learning new languages. Eventually, I headed up to Gainesville, Florida to study at the University of Florida and double-majored in English and linguistics. I also earned a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language! Following my passion for learning languages, I decided to take a couple of semesters of Mandarin and some classes in Chinese culture and calligraphy.
Around the same time, I was given the opportunity to work at the English Language Institute at UF where I was surrounded by people from all over the world. I led a class of 10-15 people four times a week in a cultural language classroom where my partner and I would talk about things like slang, small talk and just using language in a natural setting.
Touched and moved by all of my students and new friends, I looked into traveling and being able to immerse myself in other cultures. Almost by chance, I found out about the U.S. Fulbright English Teaching Assistant grant, which would allow me to follow my dreams of going to Hong Kong and to teach English at Education University of Hong Kong. I am currently in the New Territories of Hong Kong and am surrounded by an incredibly diverse campus. I cannot wait to share this incredible adventure with all of you and learn so much with you along the way!
