Exploring Daily Life in Madrid: An Interview with Maria

In Spanish, we say 'Hola' to greet people. 'Hola' is a friendly way to say 'Hello' here in Spain!"

Do you have pets?:

"I used to have hamsters, but I didn't name them. I also had mice named Musi and Pepa. I had a dog called Ruter, but he passed away. He was very special to me."

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

"I’ve traveled a good amount, mostly within Spain. I’ve visited places like Asturias, the Canary Islands, Valencia, Segovia, and Andalucía. I’ve also been to Italy, visiting cities like Florence, Venice, and Rome. In France, I’ve seen Paris and a small town called Paray-le-Monial. I spent a year living and working in Dublin with children, which was a great experience."

What do you do for work?:

"I work as an English teacher, focusing on subjects like music and English. One of the fun classes I teach is called 'Storytelling,' where another teacher and I act out stories in English. It helps them practice their language skills in a creative way while also having fun!"

Is there anything else you would like to say to students in the United States?:

"If you want to know more things about Spain, you can ask Leila to ask me! I really wish I could meet you! My advice for you is to write down the things that make you love what you do and that make you happy, and try to keep them with you always. I’ve never been to America, but I would love to visit one day!"
