From One Place to Another: Transportation in Chile

However, if I was to imagine myself physically in Santiago and surrounding areas while needing to choose a type of transportation to get around the city, I would choose buses and taxis (if I can afford it haha). I would rule out subways because, at times, they creep me out and scare me. If I was commuting to work, I would also avoid riding bicycles because of the potential for inclement weather. Weather could ruin your professional attire or uniform for work. What type of transportation would you choose? Why?

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Like I mentioned before, most Chileans travel by bus. However, the extreme south of the country is not connected to the central zone of Chile by road, except through Argentina, so transportation by sea is far more important there. This is where Chile’s geography comes into play as well. We need to consider that because Chile stretches north to south, it contains deserts, mountains, volcanoes, oceans and islands all in one. In this way, Chile is very different from the U.S. In your hometown, what type of transportation do you typically use?
