A Look Into Ju's Life in Brazil

I have one brother who lives at home too. He is a math professor at the public school.

My great-grandma was native, from a tribe in Matogroso. She was very young when she met my great-grandfather, who had just immigrated from Italy to Brazil. It is very sad, but during these times women had very few rights. It was quite common for men to decide they wanted to marry a young girl. This was the situation with my great-grandad. It happened to a lot of indigenous and Brazilian girls during this time.

How do you get around?:

Most of the time, I use my car. It is safer. Other than that, I walk if the weather allows it. I never take public transportation in Brazil; it typically is not safe, even in my small city. Everything is close in my city, so you can walk. No one in my family drives motos [motorcycles] here.

What types of clothing do you like to wear?:

Since I work remotely, I don't often dress up. I like wearing t-shirts, jeans and sneakers. However, I am really into Italian fashion. They dress in a very fancy style in Italy, something that isn't as common in Brazil.

What do you like to do in your free time?:

When I have free time, I make fresh pasta. I love to read. [She tutors in front of an entire full bookshelf, of which she has read every book.] I love to photograph nature, particularly the sky, the moon and the stars. I love to walk with my dog. I also enjoy watching films.

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak Portuguese, English, Italian and L.I.B.R.A.S.
