Hi, everyone! My name is Lindsay Bennett and I am from Lynchburg, Virginia. I attend the University of Kentucky, but right now I am studying abroad in Akita City, Japan for this school year. I am currently halfway through the first semester. My hometown, Lynchburg, is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains along the James River, so I always miss the mountains when I am in Kentucky, but Akita has plenty of them.

I grew up with my parents, my older brother and sister, and my twin sister. I have always enjoyed reading, sports (especially basketball), playing musical instruments, and watching TV. I was exposed to Japanese technology and media from a young age through playing video games and watching anime like Yu-Gi-Oh with my brother. Later I found that I enjoyed reading Japanese comics (manga) just as much.

As I entered high school, I started to see how much I enjoyed Japanese language and culture. Later, in my junior year, I started taking Japanese classes online through the University of Alabama Early College, as no university or college in Virginia offered Japanese for high school students. This set me on the path to major in Japanese in college and eventually study abroad in Japan.
