This week, my host sister taught me how to play the Russian card game durak (fool). This game is played with a regular deck of cards but without the twos, threes, fours and fives.
This past weekend I went out with some friends to sing karaoke. I was surprised to find so many karaoke establishments in Almaty. I pass by about nine karaoke bars and restaurants on my walk to the university every morning.
