Je ne peux pas croire que nous sommes arrivés à la fin de mon voyage!

At the beginning of my journey, the farewell journal felt so far away, and now here I am writing it. At the same time, the end of the year is right around the corner and there's so much on which to reflect. Last week we discussed how I had been dealing with my homesickness and I immediately responded "terribly," but that was incorrect. I had terrible homesickness, but I would say I was pretty good at dealing with it once I realized why I had it. I was hanging out with the wrong people, doing activities that didn't align with the person I was trying to be, so I stopped. I embraced being alone but not being lonely, and I finally found people that made me feel comfortable. I focused a lot on learning more about myself and what I am willing to accept and not accept from others. This weekend, I was supposed to go home on Sunday night, but I surprised my family by going home Saturday morning, and the reactions I got from everyone were ones that I will never forget... I almost gave my dad a heart attack! I will continue to travel and see the world, but to me, nothing will ever beat being home because my family is really important to me.
