Here in Costa Rica, at almost every meal, I eat beans and rice. Breakfast is my favorite meal, because my host mom makes me pancakes, eggs, fresh fruit, beans and rice, coffee and fresh juice. Sometimes I put homemade ketchup on my eggs!
I ate some yummy foods this week. I tried empanadas, which are like pastries stuffed with chicken that are baked or fried. They were so delicious! I also had octopus, which was a bit chewy, but it tasted fantastic because it had some spicy Caribbean sauce on it. I also enjoyed the side of plantains, which are kind of like bananas. People like to fry them up and eat them for breakfast, and they taste warm and sweet!
Because I am not a picky eater, I have enjoyed most of the food. Sometimes when I visit the Caribbean side of the country, though, the food is extra spicy.
Most foods here are fried. The octopus that I ate was sauteed with olive oil. The octopus complimented the coconut rice well.
