When I ate chè thái in Vietnam, I felt happy. The fruit tasted very fresh because Vietnam has warm weather which is the perfect environment for tropical fruits.
I was curious to try bún chả because it is a popular food in Hanoi (the capital of Vietnam). Trying new foods helps me learn more about Vietnam.
People make chè thái by cutting fruit into small pieces. They add jelly and coconut milk. Everything is mixed together in a bowl. Chè thái is served cold as a dessert with shaved ice.
The vermicelli noodles for bún chả are prepared in boiling hot water. Then, the pork meat is grilled over a fire.
Fresh herbs and vegetables are washed and cut. Everything is put together and eaten with the sauce.
Both chè thái and bún chả are connected to the local environment because the ingredients are grown fresh. Vietnam has warm weather. Many tropical fruits like jackfruit grow well in Vietnam. Fresh fruit makes chè thái sweet and tasty. The warm weather in Vietnam also makes it easy to grow fresh herbs and vegetables to eat with bún chả.
So how much were these two dishes?
Chè Thái: 35,000 VND = ~$1.33
Bún Chả: 60,000 VND = ~$2.28
