The main language spoken here is Polish. I hear it everywhere. Some people do speak English, but it is rare to hear outside of the main city centers. To adapt, I am learning a little more Polish each week.
The money used here is the Polish złoty.
A bottle of water costs between 2 and 3 złoty, which is less than one dollar.
The best meal this week was a warm bowl of żurek, a traditional Polish soup. It is sour, creamy and filling, with sausage and egg inside. I ate it on a cold day, and it warmed me up right away. It tasted strong and comforting, and it felt like a very Polish meal to have in winter.
This week, I listened to a lot of country music from back home. I have been really into Zach Bryan and Shane Smith & the Saints. Their songs remind me of home while I spend so much time in unfamiliar places.
