Hello! I am Marcel and I am a 21 year-old American teaching English in Thailand. I have always loved to travel and have always been so interested in global cultures. My father is Mexican-American and was born in Mexico. I remember the first time I left the United States was with my family on a trip to Mexico, and I was so amazed by the differences and similarities I found there. After that, I took every opportunity I could to travel. When I was 13, I went to Kenya to teach English at an elementary school. The following years I spent time in Costa Rica, Honduras, Romania and Peru, learning and teaching as well as helping in the community. In each place I was met with incredible new cultures, foods, perspectives and ideas, but I also have always found friendship, kindness, fun and love.
When I was in high school I moved from Nevada to Georgia. This was a difficult transition for me, and my teachers had a huge influence in helping me adjust to my life. After graduating high school, I decided to study English Education so that I could help high school students figure out their identity and passions as my teachers had done for me. I attended college at the University of North Georgia, which is in the Dahlonega mountains.
