There are three official languages in Peru: Spanish, Aymara and Quechua. Aymara and Quecha are indigenous languages. Quecha is spoken mostly in the central and southern highlands and was the language that the Inca spoke. Aymara is mostly spoken in the deep south, around Lake Titicaca and along the border with Bolivia.
The currency that is used in Peru is the sol. One US dollar is equal to 3.36 sol.
One bottle of water can cost you roughtly 1 sol and 70 cents, which equals roughly around .50 U.S. cents.
The best meal I tried this week was Ceviche. It is a Peruvian traditional dish that consists of raw fish cooked with lemon or lime, onions, cilantro and chili peppers. Peruvians only eat Ceviche for lunch, and this dish is really good!
One of the most fun activities this week was going to visit Callao. Callao is a seaside city next to Lima. It is home of the Jorge Chavez International Airport, as well as the Real Felipe Fortress. Callao is also known to have some of the best street art in Peru. When I was there, I was able to take a grafitti class and it was super fun!
