The main languages spoken in Galicia are gallego and castellano. Castellano is what we Americans think of as "Spanish". Gallego is a language spoken in Galicia that is similar to Portuguese and has some Celtic roots. There are several other langues spoken in Spain besides Spanish (castellano). A popular expression in gallego is "Se chove, que chova!" which pretty much means if its raining, let it RAIN. It refers to how the Galician people don't let the rain stop them.
The euro is used here. The euro is used by countries in the European Union. Right now one euro is worth about $1.18.
A bottle of water costs around one euro. Food and drinks in Spain are generally cheaper than in the United States. I can generally buy one weeks worth of groceries for myself of about 35 euros.
The best meal I had this week was langostinos which are shrimp. I also had pulpo which is octopus cooked in olive oil and topped with a bit of salt and red peper. Delicious!!!
