"Semana Santa" or Holy Week

Why does the community have this tradition?:

The community has this tradition because Spain has a long and complicated history with the Catholic Church. Many people who celebrate Semana Santa are Catholic or Christian; however, there are many people who are neither Catholic nor Christian but who still participate in the different Semana Santa activities because the celebration for some has become more cultural than religious.

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

The tradition isn't necessarily connected to the environment itself, but it is connected to a particular city. Smaller towns may or may not have small processions. Most big cities have processions, but they may not be that elaborate. Then there are cities that are famous for their Semana Santa processions like Zamora, Toledo, Sevilla, and.... Ferrol!
