The food on Curaçao is extremely diverse, depending on where you choose to eat. One can get into the tourist resturants with American and Dutch food. This includes steaks, burgers and fries. A unique difference between the two is that the Dutch dishes almost always come with mayo, whereas for Americans we use ketchup! Smoothies are also extremely common on the island, due to the American influence! However, on leaving these areas, one starts to find more foods that are unique to Curaçao and this region.
I've tried many new foods! , tastes like chicken and many of the locals will catch these lizards for their tail-meat. A dessert cookie of the Dutch called kruidnoten and pepernoten is popular , here, and it tastes a lot like cinnamon gingerbread!
In Curacao, the local food is mostly stews (karni stoba)! The stews, here, can have any kind of meat, but goat meat is the most common. Goats are quite prevalent on the island, as they're the only ones able to eat the leaves from the spiky dessert plants that live here. The soil on Curacao is quite good for crops, but there's limited access to water. This limits what can be grown here.
The other type of food I try are different species of fishes.
