I took a bus trip with my friends to the famous ruined city of Pompeii. Pompeii is about 200 km from Rome, which was 3-4 hours by bus.
I have traveled to many different cities around Italy when I was not in Rome. The furthest city I traveled to was the city of Milan in northern Italy, which was three hours away by train. Prior to this, I traveled over 4000 miles from NYC to Rome!
I rode the bus and tram to different places in Rome this week including school, Villa Borghese, the library and a bigger bus station where I took a Pullman (type of coach bus) to go to Pompeii.
The most interesting and incredible place I visited this week was Pompeii. Pompeii is special because about one thousand years ago, a volcano erupted near Pompeii, leaving most of the ancient city preserved under ash and soot. It was amazing to learn how this ancient civilization lived before this tragic incident.
