Italian is the main language spoken in Venice as in the rest of Italy. Since Venice has many tourists, I found that other languages such as English, French, Spanish and German are very popular too.
In Italy, we use the euro, just like in many other parts of Europe. The bills are more colorful than American dollar bills, and there are more different types of euro coins. The exchange rate is also very similar. Right now, one U.S. dollar is worth .90 euros.
A bottle of water can cost anywhere between 2 to 5 euros in Venice. I found that it was better to seek out fountains to fill up my water bottle for free but, they were difficult to find!
I ate a huge and spicy pizza pie called Diavola Pizza all by myself! It had pepperoni, mozzarella, and pepper sauce to put in top.
As I walked through Venice, I listened to accordion players -- usually older Italian men -- sing and play music as they passed by in their gondolas. It felt like scenes out of a romantic movie!
