Meet Alexa: A Young Professional Living and Working in Mexico City

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak Spanish and English—well, more or less—and I also speak French. I think I speak a little less French than English, but they are pretty similar for me. And how do you say "hello" in my language? In Spanish, you say "¡hola!"

Do you have pets?:

Yes! I have two little dogs and seven cats.

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

Honestly, I have only traveled within my country, within Mexico. I have not had the chance to go abroad yet. In 2019, I was very close. I was going to travel to Canada, but then the pandemic happened and everything was canceled. The years passed, and I still have not had the opportunity. Of course, I would love to travel, and I hope I can do it soon.

What do you do for work?:

I work at a civil society organization in Mexico, what people in other countries might call an NGO. My job is as a Strategic Alliances Specialist, and my work is to find partnerships and sponsors who support the projects we do at Educación para Compartir. Our mission is to support children and improve childhood experiences by helping to develop better global citizens. We do this not only in Mexico, but also in other countries like the United States and Argentina. My role is to look for allies, donors and organizations that can contribute and invest so that we can continue implementing our programs in schools, shelters and even in workshops for companies. I really enjoy my work—it is very interesting, and there are always new challenges.
