London is a busy, crowded, fast-paced city, but its parks are little pockets of nature. Walking through them in spring, you can see flowers like daffodils and tulips bringing color and life, even if wildlife is limited to pigeons and dogs. These small signs of nature make the city feel more peaceful and remind us of the natural world around us. In London, you can often see street or market sellers with flowers, especially tulips and other seasonal blooms. Compared to where I’m from, there seem to be fewer flower sellers, and most people enjoy the flowers in parks or buy them from supermarkets rather than from street vendors.
Daffodils are bright yellow or white with yellow trumpet-shaped centers, and tulips come in many colors, including red, pink, yellow, and purple. They really stand out in London’s parks and gardens. Seeing these flowers is always so lovely, especially compared to New York, where snow often hides most plants.
