Meet My Host Brother, Miko!

Introduction:

When I first got to Belize, I stayed with a host family for the first nine months of my service. I lived with two younger brothers, aged nine and 11, and their mother. Although I no longer live with them anymore, we still remain very close to this day. So, for this post, I decided to interview my oldest host brother named Miko. Below are his responses to the questions.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

My mom will cook me breakfast before school, which is usually pancakes. My granny comes around once a week and cooks lots and lots of food for hours at a time. Her specialities are stew chicken with rice and beans, spaghetti and stuffed fry jacks.

What is your house like?:

I live in a bright yellow house. Me and my brother share a room with a TV. Mia used to live with us, but now my granny sleeps in that room sometimes. We just got a trampoline, too!

What chores do you have at home?:

Now that I am almost 12, my ma wants me to cook more for myself. I help out with sweeping the house and cleaning my dishes when I’m done.

What jobs do your parents have?:

My mom works at Ecumenical, which is a junior college in Dangriga. She is a teacher in the tech department. Sometimes, she lets me play games on the laptops at her school.
