It certainly surprised me that even when I was in a completely different country on the other side of the world, I still heard the same music I listened to back home.
This week I visited the Sydney Tower observation deck. The tower is the tallest building in Sydney and the second tallest observation deck in the Southern Hemisphere. The view from the top was incredible. I was able to see the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House as well as the western suburbs, northern beaches, and even my campus.
For my Indigenous Australia class, I read an article about the differences between Indigenous and Western knowledge systems. Aboriginals see humanity as being one with nature rather than separate, meaning caring for the environment is one of the most important parts of Aboriginal life.
While I did not personally play any sports or games this week, I did go to a sports club to watch the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix. The venue was crowded with many Australian motorsport fans cheering on the hometown driver, Oscar Piastri, who, unfortunately, was unable to start the race due to an earlier crash. Despite the widespread disappointment, the atmosphere was incredible with the whole crowd cheering with every overtake.
St. Patrick's Day is coming up! Many events, including festivals and parades, are taking place all around the city. I plan to head to The Rocks: a historical district right on Sydney Harbour that contains some of the oldest buildings in the city.
