Bonjour (Hello), my name is Michelle De La Cruz Santos! I was born and raised in the small town of Harrisonburg, Virginia, but my parents are from the Dominican Republic. At home I speak Spanish, and I love my Latina roots! I attend Roanoke College and will be graduating in May 2020 with a degree in criminal justice. Since I’m just about done with my undergraduate studies, I decided to pursue a new opportunity. For an entire semester, I will be studying abroad at Vesalius College in Brussels, Belgium!
This is my first time in Brussels, and I am already blown away by how vibrant it is! Brussels is not only the capital of Belgium, but it is also the capital of Europe and home to the European Union. On top of eating delicious waffles and practicing my French, I am interning at the Embassy of the Dominican Republic.
I chose to study abroad in Belgium because I want to examine the country’s justice system and politics and also enhance my French skills. I have so much to learn from my time abroad, and I’m eager to bring you along the journey with me! Allons-y (Let’s go)!
