¡Hola, mucho gusto (Hello, nice to meet you)! My name is Miranda Johnson, I am 23 years old and from a small town in North Carolina named Harrisburg, close to the city of Charlotte. For college, I moved a few hours west to Knoxville, Tennessee, where I attended the University of Tennessee (Go VOLS!) to study anthropology and Hispanic studies. This past May, I completed my studies and graduated, but my schooling is far from done. Before I finished school, I applied for (and was fortunate enough to receive) a U.S. Fulbright Research Grant to study pre-Columbian tribes (native groups who lived before Cristopher Columbus came to the New World) in Costa Rica!
Currently, I am living in San Jose, Costa Rica, the capital city, with my dog, Billy Bonez, and conducting research through the Museo Nacional (National Museum). During my time here, I will be looking at human bones from an archaeological site named La Cascabel and collecting data about who these people were, how long the lived and what their daily lives may have been like. I cannot wait to share my adventures with all of you and tell you all about my life here in Costa Rica!
