The Peace Corps Volunteer Experience

We were provided three meals each day during our first three months in country during pre-service training. Lunch was always around a bowl where we got a taste of the food we'd be eating in our villages.
Pre-service training was a very fun and exciting time, but some days consisted of sitting through lectures for upwards of 8 hours.
During pre-service training, we would often congregate in the disco-hut to chat and snack before going back to class.
My friends Jeremiah and Molly eagerly await lunch in the dining hall.
My first impression of Africa was the PC training center. It reminds me so much (aesthetically) of Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World Florida. That may sound crazy, but hey, Disney got it so right!
After getting acquainted with the local fabric stores and the market, a bunch of us ventured out to get our first local clothes made!
After just two weeks at the training center, I was off to my first weeklong stay with my first host family in a city nearby. I was greeted by many neighborhood kids, all curious about the new white person in town.
