Hola (Hello)!
My name is Natalie Skowlund, and I am 23 years old. I’m originally from Portland, Oregon in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. I grew up with my mom, my dad, my younger brother (Loren) and my dog, Winnie.
After high school, I left home to study for four years at Davidson College in North Carolina. In college, I studied political science and Hispanic studies because I care about how people treat each other and love learning about different world cultures. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, playing the violin, writing stories and hiking in nature.
So what brought me to Medellin? In college, I decided to spend a semester studying in Bolivia, another country in South America. In Bolivia, I lived with a local family and learned about their traditions and customs. I loved my time in Bolivia so much that I decided to apply for a Fulbright scholarship to teach English in Colombia. So far, I’ve been having a great time learning about the local customs and making Colombian friends.
Hearing stories about the world from other travelers helped inspire me to travel, so I hope that my journey might do the same for you. I'm just at the beginning of my time in Medellín, so I can’t wait to share with you all of my stories and experiences about life here!
