The City of Eternal Spring or Eternal Summer?

The locals seem to know that they should never leave without something waterproof, but I'm still learning the ropes when it comes to the quickly-changing weather here.

What parts of this environment help people to live here?:

Medellín first became an established town after the Spanish began to settle the valley and built gold mines in the surrounding mountains. Since Medellín has such an ideal climate, with plenty of sun as well as ample rainfall year-round, it provided many agricultural opportunities for early Spanish settlers. Before the Spanish colonizers arrived, however, an indigenous community lived in the present-day neighborhood known as "El Poblado" ("The Population"), aptly named by the Spanish for the existence of the indigenous community in that area. Medellín's temperate climate has allowed for a flourishing of tropical greenery in and around the city, including a large diversity of local fruit and coffee farms not too far outside the city. Medellín's agricultural diversity is good news for me, too, because when I forget to pack a snack with me for my day at work, I don't have to look far to find a fruit stand where I can buy all kinds of exotic fruits at cheap prices.

What challenges do people face living in this environment?:

With the increasing issues that climate change presents all around the world, Medellín has also begun to feel its effects.
