In Varanasi, people have trouble getting rid of the trash they collect in their houses.
The Varanasi community needs a better garbage collection system. There are no outside garbage cans or dumpsters for people to put their trash. People in my neighborhood put their trash on one corner out in the open. Every couple of weeks, somebody comes to collect it.
Also, since there are no garbage cans in public spaces, people litter a lot. There are always wrappers and other trash on the streets.
When the British invaded India, they made a lot of changes to how the Indian government worked. The British did not create good systems that helped the Indian people. Because of this, there are still some problems that have not been fixed yet. One of these problems is that there is no good way to throw away trash.
The need is being met a little bit, but there is a lot that needs to be fixed. Like I said before, there is somebody who comes to take my neighborhood's trash away. But, there is still a lot of garbage on the streets, since there are no garbage cans to put it in. Having trash around is not good for health. It is also not good for the environment.
