Hola! (hello!) My name is Natalya Brown! I am 25 years old and I am fro Raleigh, NC. In North Carolina, I loved going to hike in the mountains, run on the greenway, or visit the beach! I attended Meredith College for school where I studied Spanish and Sociology and got a minor in Psychology. Throughout my time in college, I began to travel and study a lot. I was able to study abroad in Costa Rica for a month and then in Amsterdam, The Netherlands for a semester as well. I wrote a senior thesis on immigration in the United States, combining both of my majors!
After graduating college, I moved to Chicago to work for Americorps in a school in Chicago. I led small groups in a math elective for 9th-grade students for two years. During my second year, I decided to go back to school to take pre-medicine courses at night. In my third year in Chicago, I began working at Northwestern Hospital as a nursing assistant at night while I took pre-medicine classes at the University of Illinois at Chicago during the day. During this third year, one of my college advisors reached out and asked if I wanted to apply to live and teach with the Fulbright in Spain. As a lover of education and travel, I decided this was a wonderful opportunity and was lucky enough to be chosen as a grantee. Currently, I am working as an "auxiliar" or language assistant in Madrid, Spain. I am excited to share this year of adventure with you all!
