This adaptation helps them slither through the leaf-littered forest floor because when they're navigating tight spaces, legs would just get in the way.
I've also started noticing lots more ranas (frogs) and sapos (toads) hopping around the forest. These forest frogs don't look as big and slimy as a bullfrog you might find in the United States. Instead, these little amphibians are small and brown to let them camouflage with the dead leaves on the ground. Some of the frogs I found were the same size as leaf-cutter ants!
