The weather in China is cooling down when I arrived. Compared to Shanghai, Beijing is colder and, unfortunately, more polluted. When I was there the sky was quite cloudy and smoggy. Some days were warm and I was able to get away with wearing just a t-shirt, but most the time it was around 55 degrees Fahrenheit and I needed a jacket. The Great Wall region was especially cold because it is in the mountains.
I didn’t see very many animals in Beijing. I was surprised to see a cat on the Great Wall because the nearest city is about two hours away! I also saw some cool birds with long tails for the first time. Finally, I saw koi fish in the pond at the king’s palace. This type of fish are very common in China.
