The European robin is very small, grey, and has a bright orange head and neck. That’s why it’s called Rotkehlchen in German, which means “little red throat.” Robins aren’t uncommon here, but they are very small and fast, so sometimes they can be hard to see. While my friend Bianca and I were at the zoo, we saw one eating a piece of bread very close to us. We had to stay very still so that it wouldn’t fly away, and I couldn’t get a picture!
There’s a small playground down the street from me. During the winter, the town floods the playground and turns the entire park into a frozen lake for ice skating. It’s been too warm to skate for most of the week, but today it finally got cold enough for the kids to go out and play on the ice. The kids like to skate around and play ice hockey here.
