Masala Chipsi

Introduction:

French fries are my favorite snack back home. Whether I am relaxing with friends or studying, I am always eating French fries. Here in Iringa, everyone loves chipsi (French fries) and they make them in different ways. They serve them with fresh tomatoes, fry them with small pieces of onion and put a spicy sauce called pili pili on top of them. This week I had my favorite type of chipsi: masala chipsi.

What food did I try?:

I tried all of the different types of chipsi including chipsi maai, which is an egg omelette with French fries cooked inside of it! It was a filing dish, but my favorite type of chipsi is masala chipsi because they are very spicy. The Indian spice gives them a delicious flavor which also stains your finger red! So whenever you see me after dinner, I always have red finger tips from picking up my fries.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

When I first tried it, I was very happy because it reminded me of food from back home. I really love spicy foods and snacks like hot Cheetos. Chipsi are the closest thing I can find to hot Cheetos in Iringa. I also became very sweaty because of how spicy the seasoning was, and although it might sound strange, I really like this feeling.
