If you love tall, beautiful mountains with sweeping views of an expansive sea, then Asturias is the place for you. With much of its natural beauty still intact, Asturias is the perfect place for those who love the outdoors and nature. Plus, the citizens of this particular region know how to take care of their environment, making it one of the greenest cities in Europe.
Asturias is special in the way that it keeps its green spaces intact and healthy. There are only three major urbanized cities in this whole region, and even then the cities are very green themselves with numerous parks in the city and avenues that are tree-covered. Going to work in a small village about 30 minutes outside the capital of the region, I can immediately see the difference between the green urbanized city and the country that immediately swallows you up about five minutes after you leave the city in any direction. In all the regions that I've visited and lived in over the last four years of knowing Spain, Asturias reminds me the most of Montana when it comes to the urbanization of its spaces.
Not only is the natural environment one of the most special parts of this region, but the lack of tourism is something that is very much appreciated as well.
