Hi, everyone! My name is Shannon, and I am from Charleston, South Carolina. My favorite part about Charleston is that it is surrounded by water. We have lots of beaches and rivers. We have a bridge that is three miles long! Plus, Charleston is warm all year round, which is fun because you can go outside all year without being cold. When I am at home, I love to paddle board, go for runs and hang out with my big dog, Ike. Sometimes, Ike comes with me on runs! He is faster than me.
I went to college in New Jersey where I studied biology and creative writing. I got to write stories as homework, which made college a lot more interesting for me. Then, I lived in Washington, DC, for a year. I could walk to the White House from my apartment, though it was a long walk. When I was in DC, we once had three feet of snow, which was a lot for me! It is probably not as surprising for New Yorkers.
Now, I am back in Charleston for medical school. When I was your age, I wanted to be a veterinarian because I loved animals. As I got older, I started to be more and more interested in how the human body works. I also realized that I like helping sick people more than anything else. This is how I chose to go to medical school. I have one more year of school before I am a doctor!
When I am a doctor, I want to help cancer patients. This is important to me because cancer is such a major and scary disease for people.
