Living and going to school in France has taught me how to adapt to a culture and embrace perspectives much different to my own. This can range from what's on my sandwich to the way a professor teaches a class, I am challenged every day to look at things from the point of view of a French person. Some things I have learned to enjoy doing the French way while others I find myself getting frustrated over. However, it is all about adaptation and acceptance. You don't always have to like how another person does something, but it is important to acknowledge their way and to see it from their perspective. If you don't try to do this, then you risk never learning that there are different ways of doing things.
One thing I find myself frustrated over is the administration in France. Everything is very go-with-the-flow in Montpellier and no one really knows what they're doing or has the desire to help you figure out what you're supposed to be doing. There is a strong lack of communication between levels of authority which also leads to a lot of confusion and to administrative processes taking longer than they need to. This really upset me my first two months here, but I soon figured out that there was nothing I could do but accept it.
