Being in a very tropical climate comes with different challenges than we are used to in Kentucky which has all four of the traditional seasons.
I mentioned in a previous article and I will repeat here again for you. The environment here consists of two seasons-rainy and dry. There are no seasons of winter, spring, summer or fall. The days are mostly hot with a period of cooler temperature when it rains. We are now in the middle of the rainy season, so some days it pours until the streets flood!
Rwanda is one of the poorest countries in Africa, so they do not have a lot of money to make electricity accessible to everyone. Luckily, it does not get cold here, so there is no need to heat houses. Although it is sweltering during the day, when the sun goes down, the temperature cools off. And since many people are not in their homes during the day, there is no need for air conditioning either. The combination of accessible resources and the environment allows people to live sensibly.
