Well, this is our last post together! Thank you for sharing this incredible journey with me. I have come to love Finland and I hope, by learning a little about this country, you have come to love it, too. As school lets out for holiday break, I want to congratulate you all on a year well-done and wish you a very merry holiday season.
Although this is the end of our journey together, it is only the beginning of a new year, with many new adventures around the corner. When I was your age, I grew up in a rural area, isolated from people my age. I used to read books about "far away lands" and watch Planet Earth and dream of the day that I would see the Northern Lights or walk across the North Pole, just like in the books I read. Now that I live 300 miles south of the Arctic Circle, I will tell you a secret: in one way, traveling to other countries is even more magical than I imagined. The people are cooler, the weather is weirder and the vistas...well, someday, if you go to the Italian Alps in summer, you'll see what I mean. You will have adventures you never thought you'd have, you'll realize you're stronger than you thought you were and you'll learn things about yourself and the world that you may have never learned at home.
